  Gilmour is not clear. Two versions exist. In one, this individual is Samuel and is a brother of Archibald Johnston of Lisnaden (#346). In another, this individual is Archibald, born in 1690, and father of Archibald, Samuel, William and Mary. The second version appears to post-date the first and is used in this file. The implication is that there is no blood relationship shown by Gilmour, between the family of this individual and that of #346. In the second version, Gilmour identifies the father of this individual as Archibald Johnston, born 1660.
